You, like me, probably know what it feels like when you believe God had promised you something, but it hasn’t happened yet. “Hope deferred makes the heart sick says the writer of Proverbs 13.12. Sometimes our experience defies the promise we were anticipating.
We can read the Bible and imagine ourselves in those times because it seems that in places, the Bible equates blessing with plenty, comfort, getting on well; and times of no blessing or of cursing, as periods of hardship and discipline. But, that’s a poor reading of the Bible!
